Warren Camp Hosts Civil War Exhibit at Local Festival

Warren Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp #652 9th Ark. Infantry hosted a civil war exhibit at the Bradley County Veterans Museum. The display took place in conjunction with the Pink Tomato Festival which is held annually in Warren.  The display consisted of original Civil War weapons, accouterments, projectiles, and other artifacts. Members Duane Vaughan and Bill Farmer spoke with people all day. The number of onlookers was in excess of 150. SCV pamphlet, brochures, and applications were distributed to any one that appeared interested. The members of the Veterans Museum Board invited us back for the next year. We will have at least two new members at the next meeting as a result of the exhibit.

Orginizational Meeting For 9th Arkansas Rechartering in Warren

April 23, 2010, twenty were in attendance at the orginizational meeting for the rechartering of the 9th Arkansas Camp in Warren, Arkansas.  The meeting took place at the Veterans Museum in downtown Warren at 6:30pm.  Bill Farmer organized the meeting and the demographics included children from around 10 years old to elderly men and women.

There was definately an interest among those in attendance in the rechartering of the defunct 9th Arkansas Camp.  Division Commander Mark Kalkbrenner pledged the support of the Division in helping in any way needed. Camp officers were elected and the next meeting will be the 4th Thursday in May.  Division Commander Kalkbrenner noted that the recharting process should be complete by June, in which time the 9th Arkansas Camp will be officially listed among the Camps in the Arkansas Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
